Marumo Gallants’ talented midfielder Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo has opened up on his new position at the club following his impressive start to the current campaign.
The skilful attacking midfielder rejoined Gallants for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership on a free transfer after parting ways with Orlando Pirates in the off-season.
Ndlondlo arrived at Pirates at the start of the 2022/23 campaign after making a massive impression in his first spell with Bahlabane Ba Ntwa.
In his time at Pirates, Ndlondlo enjoyed a successful three-season stint after winning three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cup trophies under the then-head coach Jose Riveiro. The 30-year-old registered 65 appearances across all competitions at Pirates, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
After his exit from the Buccaneers, Ndlondlo rejoined Gallants, where he has since regained his best form. At Gallants this season, he has scored three goals in 12 matches in all competitions.
Ndlondlo’s three goals came in the Carling Knockout Cup as he played a pivotal role in helping the Bloemfontein-based side book a spot in the final of the tournament.
Gallants will face Ndlondlo’s former side, Pirates, in the final of the Carling Cup at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on the 6th of December.
WHAT NDLONDLO SAID ABOUT HIS NEW POSITION AT GALLANTS

Interestingly, Ndlondlo has been playing in an advanced position as a false nine at Gallants. And he has spoken out about the role, revealing that he used to play it in his last days at Pirates during friendlies.
“The position that I’m playing is something that I’m familiar with. During my last days at Orlando Pirates, I used to play as a false nine in friendly matches,” Ndlondlo told FARPost.
“So when I came here at Marumo, the coach [Alexandre Lafitte] said that he’s going to use me in that position because of my qualities. He told me that I can be able to help the team create and score goals.
“I said I don’t have any problem with that because the most important thing is the team, because they are the ones who are offering me the opportunity to showcase my talent. So I can’t say that I don’t want to play this position, I want to play that position, and it’s working for me because I’m scoring goals.”
