AmaTuks head coach Kwanele Kopo has shared his thoughts on what he feels will be a key factor for his club and fellow Motsepe Foundation Championship teams to gain promotion.

The National First Division [NFD] is currently on a November FIFA international break, with 11 rounds of matches played so far in the 2025/26 season.

Casric Stars are the current log leaders with 22 points, followed by Milford FC on 21. The bottom half of the log includes some of the clubs that were considered favourites at the beginning of the season, including Cape Town City FC, Black Leopards and Baroka FC.

Kopo, whose side is just eight points below Casric, says there has been a bit of consistency among the clubs this season.

WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR A CLUB TO WIN PROMOTION FROM THE NFD THIS SEASON?

“Consistency in terms of winning first and foremost is the most important thing,” Kopo told FARPost.

“I think everybody knows that there are challenges in the NFD. So you’ve got to get resilience in dealing with those challenges because every week presents different things.

“But I think everyone is struggling at the moment with a winning run. I don’t think anyone has gotten three or four wins in a row. For example, for us as Tuks. If we have everybody available, the key is to keep being consistent,” he added.

“So I think that we are capable of doing that [Be consistent and compete]. But at the moment, we have had many challenges. We have had a lot of injuries, and therefore we have had a lot of changes in the team week in and week out. But I think consistency to win is important.

“Resilience towards all the on and off-field challenges of the NFD. Those are the things that will lead any team, including Tuks, to gain promotion this season. It’s a tough season. When no one is running away with the league, it’s challenging.”
