Stellenbosch FC has revealed the main reason for moving their CAF Confederation Cup group stage encounter against AS Otohô to the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Stellies are pitted in Group C of the Confederation Cup alongside CR Belouizdad [Algeria], AS Otoho [Congo], and Singida Black Stars [Tanzania].
This comes after the Cape Winelands-based side booked their Confed group stage spot following a 4-1 aggregate win over 15 de Agosto of Equatorial Guinea.
Last season, the Steve Barker-coached side reached the semi-finals of this tournament after losing 1-0 on aggregate to Tanzanian giants Simba SC. Simba were still managed by South African coach Fadlu Davids, who has since rejoined Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

STELLENBOSCH FC’S OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The club confirmed they will host the Congolese side AS Otohô at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium due to the unavailability of Cape Town Stadium, as neither Athlone Stadium nor Danie Craven meet CAF standards.
Stellies will face AS Otohô on Sunday, 23 November, at Peter Mokaba for their Group C encounter, which will be their first game of the group stage. This match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00.
“Stellenbosch FC will travel to New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday, 23 November, to take on Congolese side AS Otohô in the opening match of the Club’s 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup Group C campaign,” said Stellenbosch in a statement.
“The fixture has been moved outside of the Western Cape due to the unavailability of DHL Stadium in Cape Town. Our traditional home, Danie Craven Stadium, and neighbouring Athlone Stadium, are similarly unavailable as they do not meet CAF requirements.
“Kick off for the encounter is scheduled for 15:00, and tickets are available for R40.00 from Webtickets and Pick n Pay outlets.”
