Recently retired US-based midfielder Lebo Moloto has offered advice to Jamie Webber following the latter’s move to Moloto’s former club.

Webber joined FC Tulsa towards the end of last season from Sekhukhune United in one of the most high-profile transfers in USL Championship history.

The 27-year-old seemed to have settled well at the club, making 28 appearances in all competitions. He has scored four goals with five assists in all competitions so far.

Webber is in line to win silverware with his club as they are set to face New Mexico United in the 2025 USL Western Conference final on Sunday, 16 November.

FC Tulsa are the same club that Moloto, a former junior SA international, played for from 2020 until his retirement two years ago. Moloto, from Moletji in Limpopo, is now a coach at the club’s academy.

LEBO MOLOTO SHARES SOME INSIGHT ON HOW JAMIE WEBBER IS DOING IN THE USA

“He’s doing well. We met up after he came to the [club] house,โ€ Moloto told FARPost when asked about the playerโ€™s progress.

โ€œI have seen a lot of guys struggle, and I was once one of those players because you came from back home, where everybody is technical, and you expect other people to be technical. You come to the USA and you find out it’s a different country where most of the players just work. It doesn’t matter whether you are technical or skilled. Other teams just run you off.โ€

WHAT THE USA-BASED COACH TOLD JAMIE WEBBTER

“One of the things that we talked about was adjusting to how soccer is played in the US. It’s not always pretty. It’s not always give and go or always having possession for 90 minutes. You might go play on a turf this weekend, play on a grass next weekend or play on a baseball field the week after that.

โ€œSo how do you adjust to those surfaces? How do you adjust to what the coach wants?, because again, I was one of those players in the earlier stages who would be like ‘but this is how I do things and this is how I am going to do it’.โ€โ€™
