The Football Association of Zambia [FAZ] has announced that Chipolopolo coach Moses Sichone has been discharged from the hospital in South Africa.

Sichone, video analyst Elias Chipota and midfielder Miguel Chaiwa had been admitted at St George Private Hospital in Port Elizabeth for suspected food poisoning.

The two technical team members missed the international friendly match against Bafana Bafana on Saturday, where Zambia lost 3-1. Chaiwa was admitted after the match.

Other team members hit by the alleged food poisoning were never hospitalised but treated within the camp.

FOOTBALL LEGEND KALUSHA BWALYA ALSO AFFECTED BY SUSPECTED FOOD POISONING

FAZ also confirmed that African football legend, Kalusha Bwalya, who is also the FAZ technical committee vice-chairperson, also suffered from the attack. Bwalya withdrew from the Zambia squad before their match against Angola on Tuesday. Chipolopolo suffered a 3-2 defeat to the ‘Palancas Negras’.

Shepande added that team doctor Wesley Ngongo, who has been with the patients throughout their hospitalisation, has confirmed their discharge.

The discharge of the duo comes 24 hours after another casualty in midfielder Miguel Chaiwa was discharged from the same facility.
