How Ranga Chivaviro has fared in Saudi Arabia

Ranga Chivaviro

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Ranga Chivaviro is settling in nicely in Saudi Arabia, where he’s now plying his trade for Al‑Adalah Sports Club in the First Division.

The 32‑year‑old was among the players cut loose by Chiefs when the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season wrapped, joining a roster that also saw Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edmilson Dove, Njabulo Blom, Sabelo Radebe, Tebogo Potsane and Bongani Sam shown the door at Naturena.

In addition, Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane were both loaned out to Siwelele FC. Having arrived on a free transfer after two seasons at Naturena, Chivaviro is looking to revive his goal‑scoring form in the Saudi second-tier, and early signs suggest he’s adapting well to life abroad.

RANGA CHIVAVIRO YET TO BREAK GOAL DUCK

He completed his move to Al‑Adalah Sports Club in September and has played five league matches, according to Transfermarkt. The former Marumo Gallants centre‑forward is, however, yet to score for the Saudi club.

On 20 October, his effort was adjudged as an own goal in a 4‑1 loss to Al‑Orobah. Nevertheless, hopes are high that Chivaviro—who was given jersey number 10—will turn a corner and help lift the Saudi side. He hopes to break his goal duck on Friday, 21  November, when Al‑Adalah take on Al Bukayriyah at Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium.

This season, Al‑Adalah Sports Club has managed only one win and two draws in eight matches, leaving them with five points and 15th place in the 18‑team league.

Meanwhile, Elias Mokwana will also be hoping to revive his scoring form when Al‑Hazem face Al‑Kholood on the same day at Hazm Club Stadium. He has one assist in eight matches. In another fixture, Mohau Nkota will be in action on Saturday, 22 November, as Al‑Ettifaq take on Al‑Feiha at Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium. Nkota has two goals after eight league matches for Al‑Ettifaq in the top-flight league.
