Botswana national team coach Morena Ramoreboli has offered valuable advice to Reneilwe Letsholonyane as he seeks to turn around Matebele FC’s fortunes.

Letsholonyane has not had the best start at the Botswana Premier League side. The former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana midfielder took up his first head coaching role in the neighbouring country. This followed stints as an assistant coach for the youth national teams.

On the other hand, Ramoreboli enjoyed success with Jwaneng Galaxy, winning two league titles and the Orange FA Cup during his three-year stay at the club. The Free State-born mentor, now in charge of the Zebras, knows exactly what his compatriot needs to do during the upcoming AFCON break.

With Botswana participating in the AFCON for the second time in history under Ramoreboli, the COSAFA Cup-winning coach believes that this could be the moment for โ€˜Yeyeโ€™ to turn things around. In 12 matches, Matebele have won only two and drawn twice, losing the other eight.

WHAT RAMOREBOLI THINKS LETSHOLONYANE NEEDS TO DO

โ€œMatabele is one of the teams that is coached by Yeye Letsholonyane. They are playing with a lot of young players, and if you get two or three young players from South Africa, from the DDC League, who have graduated, they can come here and contribute,โ€ Ramoreboli told SAFJA members during a virtual press conference.

โ€œSo I think I think that’s the most important thing, again, I still feel that many of the players that are coming in from South Africa, they are doing well, honestly. There’s also one boy at Matebele [Moloisane Mokhele]. He was playing for Sekhukhune. He played for a couple of clubs. Heโ€™s doing very well here.โ€

He also believes that this period gives the 43-year-old coach time to work with the team, considering he joined just a few weeks before pre-season began. Teams like Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Owen Da Gamaโ€™s Black Lions have South African loan players performing exceptionally well.

Orlando Piratesโ€™ Tefo Mofokeng is the top scorer at Chiefs, while Cossa has emerged as the best player at Lions this season. He is on a season-long loan from Kaizer Chiefs.
