TS Galaxy captain reveals his wish for Phakamani Mahlambi

Phakamani Mahlambi in his stint with Mamelodi Sundowns

TS Galaxy captain Mlungisi Mbunjana has shared his thoughts on Phakamani Mahlambi following his arrival at the Rockets for trials.

Galaxy welcomed Mahlambi to their training grounds as the talented attacker has been out of action for the past few years. The former Mamelodi Sundowns star has been a free agent since 2021, where he featured in the Betway Premiership for Chippa United.

Since leaving Chippa, Mahlambi’s career has been overshadowed by disciplinary issues, which have derailed him from showcasing his full potential. The skilful winger gained prominence with Bidvest Wits in 2013, and he was touted as one of the biggest prospects in South African football.

Mahlambi went on to play for teams such as Al Ahly, Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu FC, and Chippa before having a dip in his career.

WHAT MBUNJANA SAID ABOUT PHAKAMANI MAHLAMBI’S ARRIVAL AT TS GALAXY

With the 28-year-old eyeing a sensational return to the SA top-flight, Mlungisi Mbunjana has revealed he wishes that Mahlambi pushes through the mental barrier.

“Mahlambi is a top player, we all know and witnessed that. I think he had a slight dip in his career, and I think it’s very generous of the TS Galaxy coach [Adnan Beganovic] to give him a chance and try to get him to shape,” Mbunjana said.

“I think you can see glimpses of the quality that he possesses, even though he’s not back to full fitness, but you can see that if this guy continues to train with us, he will be back to his best.

“So I hope that he becomes better and better, so that his career can continue because he is a quality player and a wonderful person as well.

“We’ve been with him for about two to three weeks now, and you can see that he’s a cool guy. I wish that he pushes through the mental and physical barrier to get back to his best.”
