The 41-year-old officially hung up his boots almost seven months ago, following a 23-year professional football career, having made his debut in the PSL back in 2001 in Hellenic FC colours.
The retired right-back, Mere, also represented clubs such as Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows, Platinum Stars, Bidvest Wits, and TS Galaxy. He served briefly as an assistant coach before cutting ties with Galaxy last campaign.

According to local reports, Mere has joined Lethabong as the club’s technical director. He will be working closely with head coach Billy Motsumi and his assistant, John Matebele.
Mere comes highly recommended, given his experience, and has recently completed his CAF C Coaching Licence diploma.
In his interview with FARPost last month, reflecting on life after football, Mere disclosed that he was open to a coaching gig, as he enjoys developing young talents and witnessing their success.
โโโI just completed my CAF C Coaching Licence diploma, so Iโm still knocking on doors now. I love coaching and enjoy giving back and helping the young ones,โ Mere told FARPost.
“…Maybe one day, somebody will open the door for me to help. I want to give back to South African football because it has made me who I am today.”
Mere is expected to help Lethabong challenge for the league title and qualify for the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs, with the aim of gaining promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
