Mamelodi Sundowns maintained their relentless pursuit of the DStv Diski Challenge title on Sunday, delivering a commanding 4-0 victory over Polokwane City FC at the Tuks Stadium.
Masandawana entered the encounter with confidence, building on a dominant record against Rise and Shine, having triumphed in all of the previous five meetings while scoring a staggering 18 goals in those matches.
The high-scoring Sundowns machine proved difficult to contain once again, pushing their season total to 29 goals scored across just 12 games. Their objective is clear: accumulate enough goal difference to surpass log leaders Orlando Pirates, who sit two points ahead with 28 points.
However, the Buccaneers are not making the title chase any easier. Pirates recorded their own victory on Saturday, beating Richards Bay FC 2-0 at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus, thus maintaining their narrow two-point lead at the summit.
The Soweto giants bounced back after dropping critical points in the previous round, where they suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss in the prestigious Soweto Derby against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
KAIZER CHIEFS STAMP THEIR AUTHORITY

The defending DDC champions, Chiefs, appear to have decisively regained their form, registering three successive victories for the first time this season.
In a potential turning point for their campaign, the Glamour Boys annihilated hosts Chippa United with a dominant 5-1 walloping at the Westbourne Oval Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday. Chiefs have now swung from a seven-game winless streak to netting ten goals in their last three outings.
Their latest surge has propelled them into third place on the log, now sitting six points adrift of second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns. Conversely, Chippa United remain anchored in tenth place with 14 points and a negative goal difference of three.
Elsewhere in the league, Golden Arrows remain grounded at the bottom of the table despite securing a rare 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy on Saturday. Abafana Besโthende have struggled this season, managing to collect just three wins across their 12 games played so far.
