Ex-Sekhukhune & Baroka midfielder Tshediso Patjie joins new club

Former Sekhukhune United and Baroka FC midfielder Tshediso Patjie has joined SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Tzaneen United.

Patjie has been a free agent after cutting ties with Motsepe Foundation Championship team Kruger United at the end of last season.

During his stint at Kruger, the experienced midfielder played over 10 matches. The team from Mpumalanga concluded the last term in fifth place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings, following their accumulation of 45 points over 30 matches. They missed the opportunity to qualify for the PSL Promotional/Relegation Playoffs on the last day of the 2024/25 season.

However, before his move to Tzaneen United, the 35-year-old Patjie trained with the newly promoted PSL side, The Bees FC, for a couple of weeks, hoping to secure a deal ahead of the start of the 2025/26 season.

Sadly, The Bees decided against signing him, citing that they needed someone with more energy, and his age also played a part, as the club didn’t want to bring in too many players over 30.

Tzaneen United are placed in Stream A of their provincial ABC Motsepe League, with teams such as Mpheni Defenders, Mukondeni Young Chiefs, The Dolphins FC, Vondwe XI Bullets, Musina United, Phalaborwa United, Selwana White Vultures, Baduzah Celtics FC, Lebash Academy, Nkowankowa Continental, and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM].

TSHEDISO PATJIE HITS THE GROUND RUNNING AT TZANEEN UNITED

Patjie made his debut for his new team on Saturday afternoon when they defeated Selwana White Vultures 2-1 in Phalaborwa. The ex-Moroka Swallows man came on as a second-half substitute.

Currently, Tzaneen United are second in Stream A of the Limpopo Motsepe League with nine points after three matches. The side has yet to taste a league loss. They are equal on points with stream leaders Mpheni Defenders, with only goal difference separating the two teams.

The club’s next league assignment will be against Baduzah Celtics FC on Saturday, 29 November 2025. This showdown will take place at Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen. The kick-off is set for 15:00.
