Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe has addressed the challenges he’s faced regarding his lack of minutes on the pitch since joining the Soweto giants.
Maboe returned to Amakhosi at the beginning of the current season after parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.
He was part of the clubโs youth development academy during his teenage years. The 31-year-old has made just two appearances, one in the Betway Premiership and one in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking ahead of the all-important Group C match against Zamalek at New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, Maboe is optimistic of getting his chance soon.
WHAT KAIZER CHIEFS MIDFIELDER SAYS ABOUT LACK OF GAME TIME
“I am settling in very well, I know my chance will come,” he said.
“The players who have been playing are doing very well. I know myself, I trust my abilities. It’s just a matter of time; I know my chance will definitely come.
“For me right now, is just to support the players that have been playing and clap for others while I am still waiting for my chance.”

LEBOHANG MABOE HOPING HIS EXPERIENCE WILL COME IN HANDY AT CAF CONFEDERATION CUP
Having also played in the CAF Inter-club with Mamelodi Sundowns, Maboe admits his experience will also come in handy for Amakhosi.
“I think in some games [my experience] will come in handy. I know how it feels playing away, the pressure of playing in this competition,” he said.
“As I said, the game gave us the full sense that we are in control, but we didn’t convert our chances. I know we will definitely grow in the tournament, that’s for sure.”
Chiefs will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Egyptian giants Zamalek in a match that kicks off at 15:00.
They began their campaign with a 2-1 away loss in Egypt against Al Masry last weekend.
