‘No excuses’ – Zitha Kwinika on Chiefs’ intentions against Zamalek

Kaizer Chiefs’ Zitha Kwinika is drawing a line in the sand: the team must collect maximum points against Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek in Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup match, and he vows there will be “no excuses” for anything less.

Amakhosi arrived in Polokwane on Thursday afternoon ahead of their Group D match at New Peter Mokaba Stadium at 15:00.

They are coming into the match from a 2-1 away loss in Egypt against Al Masry. The visitors, on the other hand, started their campaign with a 1-0 home win over Zesco United.

Amakhosi will be facing a Zamalek side that has won two CAF Confederation Cup titles.  However, the 31-year-old says Chiefs are also equal to the task against the Egyptian side.

WHAT ZITHA KWINIKA SAID AHEAD OF THE CAF TIE AGAINST ZAMALEK

“It’s a very important game for us because we are home now. There is no excuse; we just need to do what we need to do to win the game and probably be on the same path with the other guys,” said Kwinika.

KAIZER CHIEFS SUPPORTERS EDGED TO CONE IN NUMBERS AT THE NEW PETER MOKABA STADIUM

Kwinika has also urged the Amakhosi faithful to come in numbers to the stadium to offer their support.

“We need them the most. They will also help us; them being in the stadium will give us a big boost going forward,” he added.

“We invite them to come in numbers and to come and support us, and we will do our best for them.”

“I think it’s probably the same type of players. Last week, we saw how they play. So, more or less the same thing in terms of what they do. The delaying tactics and all that. So we have learnt that and are ready for the game.”
