Former Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro Tinashe Nengomasha has found a new home as his stock continues to rise in player management.
After two years as team manager of Zimbabwean Premier League side NgeziโฏPlatinumโฏFC, the former Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro joins Harare giants Caps United as the clubโs new team manager for the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
TINASHE NENGOMASHA JOINS CAPS UNITED
The appointment was announced on Friday in Harare as part of Caps Unitedโs revamped technical team. Club president FaraiโฏJere introduced the new-look technical set-up.
They are aiming for a stronger performance in 2026 after finishing the 2025 season in ninth place with 43 pointsโ26 points behind league champions ScotlandโฏFC.
Jere said: โWeโre excited to announce the technical team, followed by our retained players and new signings for Caps United.โ
Furthermore, Jere added that head coach TakesureโฏChiragwiโwho worked closely with Nengomasha at NgeziโฏPlatinumโฏStarsโwill be assisted by Zambian coach IanโฏBakala.
“Our head coach is Mr. Takesure Chiragwi, assisted by coach Ian Bakala. This marks a new setup for us, and weโre looking to expand our technical team. Nengomasha [Tinashe] will also be coming in as team manager.โ

Nengomasha, affectionately nicknamed ‘The General’ brings a wealth of experience from his playing days. He made a name for himself at Kaizer Chiefs, where he won the PSL Player of the Year and Playersโ Player of the Year awards in 2004, among other honours.
CAPS UNITED BANKING ON NENGOMASHA’S WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE
Interestingly, despite his success in South Africa, he never captured a league title in Zimbabwe as a player. Before moving to the Betway Premiership, he had a brief spell with the nowโdefunct Black Aces, a club that also launched the careers of Wilfred and WilliamโฏMugeyi.
Moreover, Nengomashaโs managerial credentials are already taking shape. He guided NgeziโฏPlatinumโฏStars to the 2023 league title, and he has recently enrolled in a management course offered by the CIES International University Network in partnership with FIFA to sharpen his leadership skills.
With his stock rising in player management, Nengomasha is set to bring the same discipline that made him a fan favourite at Amakhosi, to his new role at Caps United.
In addition, the club is hopeful that his blend of experience, fresh knowledge, and a handsโon approach will help them make a strong contender in the upcoming season.
