Chiefs coach confirms timeline for Ethan Chislett debut

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has set a timeline for Ethan Chislett’s much-anticipated debut after the midfielder recovered from an injury setback.

Chislett, 27, has been training with the Amakhosi squad for over a week, having spent approximately two weeks on the sidelines recovering from an injury that hampered his start to the season.

The talented midfielder joined the Soweto giants on a free transfer ahead of the 2025/26 campaign after severing ties with English club Port Vale FC. His move followed a key role in helping Port Vale secure promotion to English League One.

Despite signing a two-year dealโ€”with an option for a further yearโ€”Chislett has yet to make an official appearance for the Glamour Boys.

However, Kazeโ€™s recent comments suggest the wait is nearly over, giving supporters hope that the former Port Vale star will soon feature in the gold and black colours.

WHAT CEDRIC KAZE SAID ABOUT ETHAN CHISLETT’S READINESS

Although Chislett has fully recovered from his injury, Chiefs co-coach Kaze noted that the Amakhosi medical team is currently conditioning the midfielder to ensure his readiness for upcoming competitive matches.

The Chiefs mentor, Kaze, made the revelations during the club’s press conference ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage clash against Zamalek SC of Egypt on Saturday, 29 November, at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The kick-off is at 15:00.

“โ€ŽI don’t want to go into every player’s details, but I’ll just respond to the question. Ethan Chislett was injured a few weeks ago and was out for the last two weeks,” said Kaze.

“However, he started training with us 10 days ago, and we are building him up for the club’s upcoming games.

“His injury was a tricky one, but now he has been training with the team. We hope that he will be physically fit in the next few days.”

As per Kaze’s statement, Chislett is most likely to make his debut for Chiefs when they go head-to-head with Chippa United away from home in their Betway Premiership tie on Wednesday, 3 December 2025.
