TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has provided an update on the progress made by former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly star Phakamani Mahlambi.
Mahlambi has been training with the Rockets for a week now, with the aim of securing a deal with Galaxy for the 2025/26 season.
The talented winger has been without a club since July 2022, following his loan spell at the Gqeberha-based outfit Chippa United from Masandawana.
His career has been overshadowed by off-the-field problems, which have hindered him from achieving his full potential in the beautiful game.
The 28-year-old also had stints with Bidvest Wits, AmaZulu FC, and the Transnet School of Excellence.

ADNAN BEGANOVIC HOPES FOR THE BEST FOR PHAKAMANI MAHLAMBI
Beganovic mentioned that the club will exercise patience with Mahlambi, who has been absent for an extended period, noting that they will do everything possible to assist him in reclaiming his peak form.
“โYou know, I have spoken about how he’s a beautiful human being. I totally understand him; how he lives now and how he lived before reaching that level in his career is amazing,” said Galaxy coach.
“On the other hand, you have everything, and you’re in the sky; you fly and have everything you think about. But on the other side, after a year or two, you lose everything and find yourself at the bottom.
“Now, it is very important to try to help him. We are a club like that, with the chairman’s [Tim Sukazi] support and people around. We all help each other. So, he deserves a second chance. I say we are there to help him try to bring him back to the top. But also, everything is on him; he needs to show attitude, quality, desire, and the will to come back to the top.
โ”โWe know it’s a difficult process, and we can’t expect him to come back on top quickly because he’s still working on his physical condition since he has been on the sidelines for quite some time. But I think slowly we can put him on top; however, it’s up to him to accept that he needs to push himself to get to his best form.”
