TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic has responded to speculation linking utility player Qobolwakhe Sibande with a move to an Egyptian club.

A few days ago, it was reported that the Rockets’ left back, Sibande, is on the verge of joining El Mahalla FC in the Egyptian Premier League.

Sibande signed with the Mpumalanga club in July 2024 after cutting ties with Stellenbosch FC, where he spent two seasons in the SA top flight.

The 25-year-old came to Stellies as a development player, joining the reserve team prior to his professional debut for the senior club against Sekhukhune United in January 2023.

He went on to make 42 appearances during his stay at the Steve Barker-coached side and was part of the squad that won the Carling Knockout Cup in the 2023/24 campaign.

In the current season, Sibande has featured in 11 games across all competitions for the Tim Sukazi-owned team.

‘WE DIDN’T ALLOW HIM TO GO TO ANY CLUB’: ADNAN BEGANOVIC

The Galaxy coach stated that they are unaware of the player’s imminent transfer to Egypt since the club has not approved it, and the team’s hierarchy will decide how to handle the situation going forward.

Sibande was spotted in a car in Egypt during the week to finalise his paperwork, according to local reports.

“Well, that player Sibande still has a contract with us. We didn’t allow him to go to any club, and I don’t know what is happening right now with him.

“The club doesn’t agree with anything regarding that [the rumored move to Egypt]. I think the club needs to decide what to do with him.

“What I know is that he still has contract with the club. He needs to stay with us and be part of the club. But for the future, I don’t know what will happen with him.”
