DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] log leaders Orlando Pirates delivered a commanding performance this Saturday, cruising to a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Magesi FC at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus.
The young Buccaneers continued to cement their authority in the league, registering their 10th win in 13 matches played so far this season.
Pirates established a strong presence early on, heading into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead. Magesi were unable to contain the ruthless Pirates’ attack in the second half, conceding another two goals to ultimately fall to a four-goal deficit.
The result brings an end to an impressive run for Magesi, who suffered their first loss in seven games, snapping a six-match unbeaten streak.
This is only the second time this campaign that Magesi has conceded more than two goals, the previous instance being a 5-0 thrashing by Durban City FC back in September.
In another Saturday fixture, the KZN Derby between Richards Bay FC and AmaZulu FC was unfortunately abandoned due to adverse weather conditions.
The Natal Rich Boys had established a promising 2-0 lead going into half-time before the game was interrupted and ultimately called off. The league’s ruling on the result of the abandoned match is pending.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS MAINTAIN CHASE

The race for the title remains intensely competitive, with Mamelodi Sundowns registering a crucial win this weekend to stay right on the heels of log leaders Pirates.
Sundowns hosted Orbit College FC in Pretoria on Saturday and managed to secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory, maintaining a tight two-point deficit behind the Buccaneers. Masandawana are now just one win shy of Pirates’ total, underlining their compelling record in the campaign.
Adding further drama to the top of the table is third-placed Siwelele FC. The Bloemfontein outfit delivered the highest-scoring performance of the weekend, thumping Chippa United 5-1 on Sunday.
Siwelele’s dominant display sees them further mount pressure on the top two, remaining a strong contender for the DDC title. They sit just three points behind Sundowns and five points adrift of Pirates at the summit.
