Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Joseph Molangoane has explained why he believes Gaston Sirino remains Amakhosi’s most dangerous wide player, pointing to the Uruguayan’s ability to produce something special out of very little.
Sirino’s time at Chiefs has been a rollercoaster. His performances and his place in the starting line-up have been inconsistent, dividing opinion among the fanbase. One week, he’s praised for his quality, the next, he’s labelled a disappointing main man.
So far this season, the 34-year-old has featured in 11 matches in the Betway Premiership, scoring once, a stunning winner in the 1–0 victory over Richards Bay FC at FNB Stadium in August, and providing two assists for Flavio Silva against Golden Arrows and Durban City FC.
Despite those contributions, Sirino has started just three matches in the current campaign. Last season, he registered four goals and six assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
WHY MOLANGOANE INSISTS BENCHING GASTON SIRINO IS A MISTAKE FOR KAIZER CHIEFS

Molangoane, who scored six goals and provided eight assists in 48 outings for Chiefs during his own spell at the club, insists Sirino is still the standout winger in the squad.
“There is just something about him,” Molangoane told FARPost. “He can look quiet, like he’s not in the game, but he always has that spark. Sirino can score a great goal or create an assist out of nowhere.
“He has that X-factor. For me, he starts every game. He has the ability to produce something world-class when you least expect it, and Chiefs need players like that. Sirino will always surprise you. He is not the player you can undermine. He always has a plan when moving forward. Sirino knows how to win games.
“Even his assists are a different class. His composure and vision are on another level; you can’t coach that. A team in Chiefs’ position can’t afford to leave a player of Sirino’s quality on the bench,” he concluded.
