TS Galaxy and Chiefs settle for goalless draw

Betway Premiership tie between TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs

TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs played out to a 0-0 draw in their Betway Premiership clash at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Sunday afternoon.

The visitors started the contest on a high note, putting pressure on the hosts in the opening minutes of the game.

The Rockets had minimal possession, as their play was restricted to the Soweto giants’ half due to intense pressing.

As the first half wore on, Flavio Da Silva had his goal ruled out for offside in the 19th minute of the showdown.

However, Galaxy were never discouraged, as they started to threaten the Amakhosi with the hope of breaking the deadlock.

Chiefs redeemed themselves, however, couldn’t capitalise on their clear-cut opportunities. On the other hand, Adnan Beganovic-coached side remained disciplined at the back.

NOTHING TO SEPARATE TS GALAXY AND KAIZER CHIEFS AT HALF-TIME

After the first 45 minutes, the showdown went into the interval with a 0-0 scoreline between Galaxy and Chiefs.

In the second stanza, the Glamour Boys started the match in a similar fashion, taking command of the showpiece, gunning to find the back of the net.

Despite starting the second half on a front foot, the Mpumalanga club continued to put in a resilient defensive performance to deny the efforts of the Chiefs.

Towards the end of the game, the home team began to experience their most dominant period, but they were restrained and could not generate a significant chance to find the back of the net.

In the last minutes of the showdown, Chiefs started to trouble the hosts’ goalkeeper, as they wanted to snatch a late win and walk away with three points from home. However, it was never meant to be.

In stoppage time, Nhlanhla Mgaga was sent off after receiving his second yellow card for a reckless tackle on Asanele Velebayi.

The final whistle blew with the Rockets and Chiefs settling for a 0-0 draw.
