FARPost has gathered that Motsepe Foundation Championship side Gomora United has made a decision to host some of their home games at the Malamulele Stadium in Limpopo.

The club, currently based in Gauteng, are in their first season in the professional ranks in the National First Division [NFD] after gaining promotion through the SAFA ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.

They have hosted some of their league matches at the TUT Stadium in Pretoria. Gomora are currently in position 13 on the log with 17 points from 14 games.

The club is owned by Joe Seanego, who has some family roots in the Senwabarwana side in Limpopo.

JOE SEANEGO CONFIRMS GOMORA WILL PLAY MATCHES AT MALAMULELE STADIUM

Seanego has confirmed to this publication that the club will play its next two matches in Malamulele, pending the approval of the PSL.

“We are struggling in terms of the facilities in Johannesburg, particularly in Ekurhuleni,” Seanego told FARPost.

“So the only option is that when you look at the Malamulele or Giyani side, those are places with world-class facilities. They are also not being used professionally. Football is a game of crowds. So if you are playing at TUT, for example, you have so many restrictions.”

WHICH MATCHES WILL GOMORA UNITED TAKE TO LIMPOPO?

“We are very serious. So we are just waiting for the PSL to give us a go-ahead. But if everything goes well, our first game will be against Cape Town City FC. Our second game will be against Venda FC. We are not even afraid to take them [Venda FC] because they are also struggling in Venda.”

The Malamulele Stadium has previously been used by Black Leopards as well as Venda FC as their home venue. But the two teams have since moved back to the Thohoyandou Stadium, which is just a few kilometres from the area.
