SAFA has confirmed the venue that will host a friendly match between Bafana Bafana and Ghana as part of preparations for the upcoming AFCON.
Bafana reported for camp in the High Performance Centre in Pretoria as they’re gearing up for the Nations Cup in Morocco later this month. South Africa is aiming for an improved showing at the next AFCON after clinching bronze at the previous tournament in the Ivory Coast.
Bafana coach Hugo Broos has assembled a strong squad that will compete with other big guns on the African continent for top honours. The 1996 AFCON champions will face Ghana in their final practice match before heading to Morocco. Bafana have been pitted against Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe in Group B of the tournament.
BAFANA BAFANA WILL HOST GHANA AT DOBSONVILLE STADIUM
As anticipation builds for the opening matches of the AFCON, SAFA has revealed that Bafana will lock horns with the Black Stars at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto. The game will take place on the 16th of December, and it will give Broos a clear picture of the readiness of his charges.

“Bafana Bafana will host Ghana at the Dobsonville Stadium in their final match before departure to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco later this month,” SAFA said on their website.
“The South African men’s senior national team will welcome the West Africans to Soweto on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, and then depart for Morocco on the following day ahead of their participation in the AFCON tournament to be held in the North African country from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
“Coach Hugo Broos Broos said Bafana Bafana will not have the element of surprise they had in the previous tournament in Côte d’Ivoire in 2024, and he expects teams to have done their homework on his charges this time around.”
