Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has refused to take the credit for the club’s impressive run following his consecutive Betway Premiership Coach of the Month awards.

Ouaddou was voted coach of the month for November and December 2025. He also won the same award in October.

The 47-year-old has led the Buccaneers to the summit of the Betway Premiership going into the long CAF AFCON break. Pirates are currently above rivals Mamelodi Sundowns by two points with a game in hand.

But Ouaddou insists he can’t take all the praise for the club’s good run of form as it’s the work of the collective.

“I give credit to Orlando Pirates. I think instead of saying Ouaddou is the coach of the month, I would say Orlando is the club of the month,” he said.

“I am working with fantastic people. Individuality is very important. But the individualities are important when they serve the collective project, and that’s why we are doing it.”

ABDESLAM OUADDOU NOT UNDERESTIMATING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CARLING CUP

Meanwhile, Ouaddou will lead Pirates when they take on the Carling All Stars side in the Carling Cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. He insists the club doesn’t underestimate the exhibition match and will be going for the kill.

“It’s a very important game for us. Every game that we play, we play with the spirit of winning,” he said. We have prepared very well for this game since the beginning of the week, with the analysis of other clubs and the coach’s playing philosophy.

“Of course, we want to imagine with the players that he has how he can approach that match. There is a trophy at the end of the game. So tomorrow we will see a competitive game.”
