Owner of Motsepe Foundation Championship side Gomora United, Joe Seanego, has clarified the coaching changes that have seen Johnny Ferreira not occupying the bench for some time.

Gomora United are one of the newcomers in the league following their promotion from the SAFA ABC Motsepe League last season.

The club has only registered three wins so far in their 14 matches they played and occupies position 13.

But there have been some changes in the coaching department since the club gained promotion. Former Bidvest Wits player Ashley Makhanya has been at the helm since November, assisted by ex-Orlando Pirates defender Patrick Phungwayo.

WHY COACH JOHNNY FERREIRA HAS NOT BEEN SITTING ON THE BENCH

It was previously reported that Ferreira had been assigned a different role at the club. But Seanego has since revealed that the well-travelled, experienced coach had not been well for some time, hence the changes in the team.

“Currently, the head coach, Johnny Ferreira, is still on sick leave. Truly speaking, he is not well,โ€ Seanego told FARPost.

โ€œSo we also wish him a speedy recovery. However, fortunately, we have built a technical team where anyone who is around the system can easily integrate and fit in well. So I think we are covered.”

“Because of the duration [time off], we can say the current head coach is Ashley Makhanya, assisted by Patrick Phungwayo and Thabo Mashego.

GOMORA UNITED CONFIRM THE SIGNING OF FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES DEFENDER

As previously reported by FARPost, Seanego also confirmed the signings of Justice Chabalala and Tiklas Thutlwa.

“I have a lot of experience mixed with youngsters because in this league, you must have under-23 players. So Justice Chabalala has signed with us. We just recently signed Tiklas Thutlwa. We are also still looking to sign more youngsters. But in every department, I think we are covered.”
