Cape Town-based club Antalyaspor JPM CT have confirmed that two of their youngsters have signed for Betway Premiership powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns, adding to an exodus of Cape talent to Chloorkop since 2023.

The move is part of Kabo Yellow’s continued drive to recruit the best young talent from all over South Africa as Sundowns strengthen their academy pipeline.

Daylin Tiemie and Ukhonkosi Sihlala, both 16-year-old wingers, completed permanent moves to Chloorkop after successful two-week assessments with the Tshwane giants.

The duo was first spotted during the Under-16 FC Kapstadt Cup in October. Sundowns went on to win the encounter 2-1. Nevertheless, the performances of Tiemie and Sihlala caught the attention of the club’s scouts. Two of their teammates, Zach Bowers [15] and Zac Adams [14], also travelled to Tshwane for assessments. Unfortunately, they did not make the final cut.

Antalyaspor confirmed the double transfer via social media earlier this week. “From Youngsfield to Chloorkop,” the club said. “Antalyaspor JPM CT is pleased to announce that the two clubs have agreed terms on the permanent transfer of the following players, following a successful assessment: Daylin Tiemie and Ukhonkosi Sihlala.

“We wish our boys all the best on their new journey,” the statement concluded.

Tiemie and Sihlala’s moves follow a significant wave of Cape Town youngsters who have joined Sundowns in recent years. The trend began in 2023 when “The Twins” Buhle Majavu and Okuhle Majavu made the move from Ubuntu FC and Young Bafana to Chloorkop.

The recruitment drive continued in 2024, starting with Hlumile Tshaka from Cape Town Spurs. The following intake included three former Ubuntu FC academy players, Liam Marthinus, Xavier Jodamus and Anothando Menemene. There was also the Cape Town Spurs duo Selwyn Stevens and Junaid Seedat, as well as Zeke Felix from Cape Town City FC.

More arrivals followed soon after, with Shaqeel Edries, Ahlumile Bashman and Naaseeg Cornick from CT Spurs, Zazi Qotoyi from CT City, and Inganathi Simama from Ubuntu also making the move to Chloorkop.
