Kaizer Chiefs chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung has sent a message of support to Bafana Bafana ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] clash against Egypt on Friday.
South Africa will take on Egypt in a Group B match at the Adrar Stadium on Friday at 17:00. They head into the highly anticipated tie following a hard-fought 2-1 win against Angola in their opening match on Monday.
In a Christmas message addressed to Chiefs faithful and the football fraternity, Motaung shared his conviction that the inherent resilience of South Africans will carry Bafana Bafana to victory over Egypt.

“We also send our best wishes to our national men’s team, Bafana Bafana, who are currently in Morocco representing Mzansi at the Africa Cup of Nations,” said Motaung.
“We watched the opening game against Angola and now look forward to the clash against Egypt on Family Day, 26 December.
“As Kaizer Chiefs, we know the challenges of playing against teams from those countries after recently playing Kabuscorp of Angola and Zamalek and Al Masry from Egypt, yet we believe in your strength and resilience as South Africans to prevail.”

Meanwhile, the Chiefs boss also reflected on the club’s achievements in 2025, which included celebrating their 55th anniversary.
Amakhosi ended a 10-year wait for silverware when they defeated Orlando Pirates 2-1 to claim the 2025 Nedbank Cup trophy in May.
“This year has been a special one for Kaizer Chiefs. We celebrated our 55th anniversary, a milestone that speaks to the legacy and resilience of our Club,” he added.
“To put the cherry on top, our senior team rewarded your unwavering support with the Nedbank Cup trophy and a return to one of CAF’s club competitions, the Confederation Cup.
“Our reserve team also made history by lifting the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] trophy for the very first time in record-breaking fashion. These achievements are gifts that we hope have brought smiles to our loyal supporters in 2025.”
