Kaizer Chiefs marketing and commercial director Jessica Motaung has opened up on the Soweto giants’ decision to join TransferRoom, explaining how the global marketplace has already benefited the club.
TransferRoom is a market intelligence and global network of over 800 clubs connecting them with agents and players. The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, Juventus, AS Roma, FC Porto, Leeds United, Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are part of this platform.
Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City were already utilising TransferRoom in their transfer business. Continental rivals Wydad Casablanca and Pyramids FC are already part of this network.
Chiefs have now joined TransferRoom as they seek to at least match the Brazilians in player quality and depth. Over the years, Amakhosi have been criticised for transfer blunders as they struggle to win the Betway Premiership title.
That leaves their fans and rivals eager to see the calibre of players the Soweto giants will sign this January as they seek to beef up their squad. Having shown some improvements in the goalkeeping department, as well as in defence, Chiefs are likely to enter the market searching for a creative midfielder and a striker to address their goal-scoring issues.
In the previous transfer window, Amakhosi signed 11 players and they are still within a chance of winning the PSL title, although they face a difficult task against leaders Orlando Pirates and Sundowns. They have four points fewer than the Buccaneers who have played a game less than them.

Motaung feels Chiefs’ presence at the recent TransferRoom Summit marked an important step in strengthening their global network and unlocking new opportunities.
“Our participation in the TransferRoom Summit in Morocco’s capital, Rabat, opened new opportunities for collaboration and growth,” said Motaung.
“Our Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. represented us well and we believe being part of the TransferRoom will benefit us immensely.”
