Miguel Reisinho makes huge Mamelodi Sundowns promise

Midfielder Miguel Reisinho has laid a bold marker for his ambitions at Mamelodi Sundowns, delivering a strong promise in his maiden season playing African football.

Arriving at Chloorkop from Portuguese Primeira Liga side Boavista in September, Reisinho joined the Tshwane giants who are bidding for a record-extending ninth straight Betway Premiership title.

Also on top of the Brazilians’ priorities is the CAF Champions League, which they last won in 2016. But their season has turned out to be a difficult one, entering 2026 while trailing Orlando Pirates in the PSL title race.

They have two points fewer than the Buccaneers who have played a game less than them. That has put some pressure on coach Miguel Cardoso who would want to avoid a grim record of leading Sundowns to losing their PSL stranglehold.

Reisinho was one of the four signings Masandawana made in the previous transfer window and arrived with expectations high on him.

He has so far managed a goal and an assist in six matches across all competitions after being red-carded on his Sundowns debut against Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout in October.

“I want to contribute with hard work and dedication, both in training and on match days. My goal is to help the team win trophies, perform consistently at the highest level and make a real impact on the pitch,” Reisinho told the Mamelodi Sundowns Magazine.

“I want to grow alongside the Club, push my teammates to be better and leave a lasting, positive legacy for Sundowns and the supporters.

“When I stepped foot at Chloorkop, I was immediately impressed with the facilities, especially coming from Europe. I expected something different, as Africa is often perceived differently, but everything here is world-class.

“The coaches and my new teammates welcomed me from day one and that kind of reception makes you want to give your all for the team.”
