Sekhukhune United have won the race for forward Lehlohonolo Mojela, bringing an end to the player’s challenging spell at Stellenbosch FC. Mojela’s departure from Stellenbosch comes after a turbulent few months.
Despite a blistering start to his career in the Winelands, where he scored six goals in his first nine appearances and helped the club reach the MTN8 final, a recurring knee injury severely hampered his momentum.
After undergoing surgery in late 2024, Mojela struggled to reclaim his starting spot in Steve Barker’s side. Recent reports indicated that the forward had been training away from the first-team squad as the club looked to reshuffle its roster following a dip in league form.
In fact, Barker, who has since left the club to join Simba SC, indicated that the club was looking to sell the attacker. “We know both Bradley and Lesiba [Nku] will find clubs; there’s already been interest in both. It’s not a question of whether we keep them training and that; they also need a little bit of a break to refresh themselves,” he had said.
“They’ve got options if they want to continue training at the club, which is available to them, or if they just want to go home and refresh themselves whilst their agents look for them – that’s also a decision they can make. There are several clubs interested; the agent and the player need to make the right decision, and we as a club also. I don’t expect them to be with us after January.”

His move, finalised as the January transfer window opens, sees the 29-year-old attacker return to Gauteng, where he previously enjoyed a breakout period with TS Galaxy.
WHAT LEHLOHONOLO MOJELA BRINGS TO SEKHUKHUNE UNITED
Babina Noko, currently under the guidance of head coach Eric Tinkler, have won the race to sign Mojela. According to
FARPost sources, the player completed his medicals on Friday after the two clubs reached an agreement. He is expected to join his new teammates next week as they step up preparations for the second half of the 2025/26 season.
The club was looking to bolster its attacking options as they look to push for a CAF Champions League spot. They are currently third, having won seven, drawn four and lost two. Mojela will provide versatility as he is capable of playing as a centre-forward or on either wing.
His ability to stretch defences was a hallmark of his time at TS Galaxy, and he has the knack of scoring all-important goals.
