Devin Titus ends speculation by signing Stellenbosch extension

Devin Titus signing a new contract at Stellenbosch FC

Key attacker Devin Titus has officially put an end to the uncertainty surrounding his future by committing to a new long-term contract extension with Stellenbosch FC.

Titus was in the final six months of his previous deal, a situation that had sparked significant interest from South Africa’s ‘Big Three’—Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, and Mamelodi Sundowns—as well as several suitors abroad.

However, despite heavy interest from home and overseas, the winger has opted to remain in the Winelands.

The 24-year-old is a product of Stellenbosch’s development structures. He made his professional debut against Black Leopards in 2021 at the age of 19, and has since become the club’s third-most-capped player of all time with more than 150 appearances. He was part of the squad that won the 2023 Carling Knockout Cup and reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

The club announced on Monday that Titus has extended his stay after putting pen to paper on a contract extension earlier this week in the January transfer window.

“Stellenbosch FC is the Club that gave me an opportunity to follow my dream of becoming a professional footballer, so I’m very happy to have signed a new contract here,” Titus was quoted by the club.

“I’m incredibly grateful to the Club and all the coaches, staff, and players who have given me this platform to showcase my talent, and hopefully, there is even more to come in the next few years,” he added.

Titus also helped Stellies reach back-to-back MTN8 finals in 2024 and 2025, qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup in consecutive seasons, and break into the Bafana Bafana squad.

Meanwhile, the club recently announced the appointment of Gavin Hunt as the new head coach. Hunt takes over from long-serving Steve Barker, who recently left to join Tanzanian giants Simba SC.

Veteran defender Wayde Jooste has also joined the club after spending the past season at AmaZulu FC.
