Miguel Timm joins new club after Sekhukhune departure

Miguel Timm being officially unveiled by Cape Town City

Former Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United midfielder Miguel Timm has been unveiled as the new signing by Cape Town City FC.

Timm joins CT City after parting ways with Sekhukhune, where he spent just five months at the Betway Premiership side. He featured in 14 matches in all competitions for the club. The 33-year-old moved to the Limpopo side after spending three seasons with the Buccaneers.

After struggling to break into the starting line-up at Sekhukhune , the experienced former Pirates star reached a mutual settlement to exit the club. He didn’t stay on the market for long; Cape Town City announced his signing on Monday morning.

At 33, Timm, who is an ex-Bafana Bafana international, will be looking to prove he still has the elite-level quality that made him a fan favourite in Soweto.

MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP SIDE MAKES PROMOTION AMBITIONS CLEAR

Timm is a second signing announced by the Motsepe Foundation Championship side in a space of just two days in the January transfer window. On Sunday, the club completed the signing of Bosnian-Belgian striker Dลพenan Zajmoviฤ‡.

The 31-year-old had a successful spell with TS Galaxy in the 2024/25 season. In Galax colours, he scored 12 goals in 26 starts.

However, he could not agree on terms for an extension, and a move to the Iranian side, Zob Ahan, followed in August 2025, which proved less successful.

The Citizens are currently fourth in the National First Division after 14 matches played. They are just five points behind the log leaders, Milford FC.

They will return to action after the CAF 2025 AFCON break when they travel to Malamulele Stadium in Limpopo to face Gomora United.
