Zim’s soccer star snubs PSL clubs again for Hardrock FC move

Washington Navaya in Zimbabwe national team camp at 2025 AFCON

Zimbabwe’s 2025 Player of the Season, Washington Navaya, is playing hard to get and has snubbed advances from PSL clubs, including Orlando Pirates and Durban City FC, who want to sign him.

The striker, who was part of the Zimbabwe Warriors’ 2025 AFCON squad during their botched campaign, seems to have his sights set on a move to Hardrock FC, where he will sign a fresh contract on Tuesday, 6 January. This is despite interest from Zimbabwe 2025 Champions, Scottland FC.

Navaya, who won the 2025 Golden Boot with 17 goals for TelOne FC, attracted attention from several clubs, including Orlando Pirates, Polokwane City FC, and Sekhukhune United.

Durban City FC chairman Farook Kadodia has been trying to convince him to join his team, but it seems Navaya is prioritising staying in Zimbabwe. His contract with TelOne FC lapsed on 31 December 2025, making him a free agent.

Meanwhile, Hardrock FC is still weighing its options regarding Kwanda Mngonyama’s potential move. The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns defender is indeed a top target for the newly promoted Zimbabwean side, who are building a strong squad for the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

Mngonyama brings a wealth of experience, having played for top clubs like Maritzburg United, AmaZulu FC, and Moroka Swallows in the Betway Premiership. Club owner Shepherd Chahwanda sees him as a vital addition, in terms of leadership and experience to the team.

FARPost understands that talks between Hardrock FC and Mngonyama have stalled and no decision has been made yet. The 32-year-old is currently on a six-month contract with Bahrain’s Al-Ettihad Club and is keen on a move soon closer to home.

Mngonyama spent the 2024/25 season with AmaZulu FC but didn’t get a contract renewal at the end of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership campaign.
