Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Kobamelo Kodisang is set for an early return to Chloorkop. Despite joining Portuguese top-flight side AVS Futebol SAD on a season-long deal in July, the winger’s stint in Europe is being cut short.

Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Kobamelo Kodisang is set to make an early return to his parent club after completing a season-long loan to Portuguese top-flight side AVS Futebol SAD in July.

The talented winger left Sundowns to search for regular playing minutes after struggling for game-time under head coach Miguel Cardoso. Kodisang initially joined the Brazilians at the start of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season in a major transfer move from Moreirense FC in Portugal.

Despite being one of the highly-rated South African wingers, Kodisang struggled to break into the Sundowns matchday squad. He made 13 appearances across all competitions, scored two goals, and provided two assists.

Before penning a long-term deal with Masandawana, Kodisang had an impressive stint with Moreirense, where he scored 14 goals and chipped in with six assists in 67 appearances in two seasons.

So far in his loan spell with AVS Futebol, Kodisang played five matches and scored one goal, having started the season sidelined with an injury.

FARPost has gathered that the former SA junior international could be on his way back to the PSL with Sundowns just six months after leaving the club on loan.

While the reasons behind the early return are unclear, a source close to the information has revealed that the chances of the 26-year-old leaving Portugal are high.

“It looks like Kobamelo Kodisang will be back at Sundowns in this January transfer window. At this stage, it’s unclear why he’s returning to his parent club,” a source said.

Kodisang will be hoping to turn his fortunes at Sundowns and fight for his position in the starting line-up in the second round of the campaign as the club looks to compete for the CAF Champions League, Nedbank Cup, and defend their Betway Premiership title.
