Mamelodi Sundowns have announced a major transfer move for Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng, bolstering their attack for the second round of the 2025/26 season.
Saleng is joining reigning league champions Sundowns, having spent the first round of the season in the colours of Betway Premiership side Orbit College on loan from Pirates.
The Brazilians are aiming to retain their league title with the signing of Saleng, having won the trophy for the past eight seasons. The left-footed star is bringing an explosive pace, skill, and eye for goal in Sundownsโ attack. The highly-rated winger becomes Sundowns’ second signing in this window, having signed Brayan Leon from Independiente Medellin of Colombia.
In the first round of the campaign, Saleng featured in 12 appearances across all competitions at the North West-based side, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Before completing a loan move to Orbit, Saleng had off-the-pitch issues with Pirates, resulting in months of being missing in action due to disputes with the club. In his stint at the Soweto giants, the former Free State Stars winger amassed 70 games with 25 goals and 17 assists under his name.

Saleng played a major role in Pirates winning a handful of domestic trophies under the then-head coach Jose Riveiro in the past three seasons.
In a shocking move on Friday, Sundowns confirmed a major transfer coup for Saleng, sending a message of intent to chase the CAF Champions League and win the domestic titles.
On the local front, Sundowns have had a shaky start to the season, and they are currently sitting second on the league table with 26 points in 13 matches played. They are two points behind the log leaders, Orlando Pirates, who have collected 28 points in 12 games.
