Khulumani Ndamane joins Mamelodi Sundowns

Khulumani Ndamane in Bafana Bafana colours

Mamelodi Sundowns have roped in Bafana Bafana international Khulumani Ndamane ahead of the second round of the 2025/26 PSL season.

The talented defender joins the Betway Premiership defending champions, Sundowns, from TS Galaxy.

This move has finally put an end to prolonged speculation about him joining the Miguel Cardoso-coached side this season.

Ndamane has been one of the best centre-backs in the Betway Premiership, given his stellar displays for the Mpumalanga-based outfit, Galaxy.

He made his presence felt in the SA elite league at the beginning of last campaign, having joined the Rockets in July 2024 following his departure from the Kaizer Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge side.

Ndamane was one of the players who left the Amakhosi after they refused to be ball retrievers in a Carling Knockout Cup game against AmaZulu FC in October 2023.

โ€œI believe that as a player, I wanted to develop in football, so while playing for the DDC side there, I realised I could achieve more. Just because I didnโ€™t play for the first team didnโ€™t mean I wasnโ€™t talented, so I decided to come and try my luck here at TS Galaxy,โ€ explained Ndamane on why he decided to play for Galaxy after his departure from the Soweto giants.

HOW KHULUMANI NDAMANE FARED AT TS GALAXY

The talented centre-back has demonstrated his ability to play at the back and his strong defensive skills in Galaxy colours.

In the last term, Ndamane participated in 27 matches in all competitions and won the heart of Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

Ndamane played an important role in helping the Bafana squad qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is due to be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States, as well as the CAF 2025 AFCON tournament currently ongoing in Morocco.

The 21-year-old was part of the final Bafana 25-man squad that represented South Africa at the AFCON competition. Unfortunately, Broos’ charges were eliminated in the Round of 16 following their 2-1 defeat to Cameroon on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’ OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON KHULUMANI NDAMANE’S SIGNING

Ndamane was unveiled by Bafana Ba Style on Monday, 12 January, just a few hours after the club announced the acquisition of Colombian striker Brayan Leรณn.

Masandawana expressed their pleasure at signing the Bafana defender and believe he will add experience to their defensive department.

“Khulumani Ndamane has officially joined the Yellow Nation. Welcome to the Home of the Champions,” said Sundowns in a statement.

It has always been Ndamane’s dream to see himself playing for one of the biggest club in the country. He made this revelation last year October during Galaxy’s media open day.

โ€œI wish to play for a big team or go overseas one day, and I believe my time will come,โ€ revealed Ndamane.

Ndamane leaves Galaxy in position eight on the Betway Premiership log standings with 21 points after 14 matches.

WHEN WILL KHULUMANI NDAMANE MAKE HIS DEBUT?

The defender is most likely to make his debut for Sundowns on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, when the Brazilians face Orbit College FC at home in the Betway Premiership encounter. The showdown will start at 19:30.

However, Ndamane will have to compete with the likes of Keanu Cupido, Malibongwe Khoza, Mothobi Mvala, Grant Kekana, and Mosa Lebusa for his place in the starting lineup at Sundowns.

Currently, the Chloorkop-based side is in second position on the Betway Premiership table, after accumulating 26 points from 13 outings. They are behind the league leaders, Orlando Pirates, by two points. However, the Buccaneers have a game in hand and would like to use that as their advantage to cement their top spot.
