Betway Premiership outfit AmaZulu FC have secured the signature of Brazilian defender Gustavo Vieira Lopes. FARPost has been reliably informed that the deal was finalised after the player successfully completed his medical assessment.
The 25-year-old joins Usuthu from Mozambican side Ferroviรกrio da Beira, where he spent two successful seasons.
Lopes, a versatile player capable of slotting into defensive midfield, confirmed his departure following a 1-0 win over Textรกfrica in December. Speaking to the Mozambican outlet Lance, Lopes expressed his gratitude to the city of Beira, calling it a second home.
His former club also released a statement praising his work ethic and passion during his 45 appearances for the team. AmaZulu, currently sitting fifth in the Betway Premiership, look to bolster their squad as the league prepares to resume following the 2025 AFCON break.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu, led by Kaizer Chiefs legend Arthur Zwane have also reportedly won the race formidfielder Luyolo Slatsha, beating out competition from several Betway Premiership rivals. The 23-year-old is said to be joining the Durban-based outfit as a free agent following his departure from Cape Town City FC, who are competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
