Gallants announce arrival of Ouattara, Mwiinde and Kunene

Marumo Gallants have signed three players—Romaric Dognimin Ouattara, Emmanuel Lyonze Mwiinde, and Msindisi Kunene—as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the resumption of their 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign.

The new signings arrive following the departures of striker Daniel Msendami and Mpho Chabatsane, who both joined Orlando Pirates in the current PSL January transfer window.

However, the new acquisitions are all attackers, making up for Msendami’s exit. Coach Alexandre Lafitte is yet to replace left-back Chabatsanse who can also play in central defence.

More signings are expected by Lafitte after the Bahlabane ba Ntwa said, “The Club continues its work behind the scenes, evaluating further targets to strengthen the team as they prepare for the upcoming match against TS Galaxy FC on the 21st of January 2026 at Mbombela Stadium.”

They are 12th on the Betway Premiership table with 15 points from 14 matches. Scoring just 12 goals in those 14 league games might have inspired the signing of the three strikers.

Having recorded six draws, that has been Gallants’ major drawback in their campaign in a season they have managed just three wins while losing five times.

That gives Lafitte and his men a huge task to improve when the season resumes to at least end the term in the top half of the standings. TS Galaxy, who are in position eight, have six points more than Gallants.

Ivorian striker Ouattara will join compatriot Agnikoi Eroine who is also a Gallants player. The 21-year-old arrives from Algerian side Olympique Akbou and has previously played for MC Alger just before Rhulani Mokwena arrived at the club.

He managed just five appearances for Akbou during his six-month stint at the club this season without contributing any goals or assists.

Another attacker Mwiinde is a 25-year-old from Zambia who has plied his trade in Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Oman. He signed for Bahlabane ba Ntwa as a free agent after leaving Omani side Al Salam SC in June 2025.

Kunene also arrives at Gallants for free after being without a club since he left AmaZulu FC at the end of last season. The 24-year-old is also a former Uthonganthi FC player.
