Betway Premiership side TS Galaxy has confirmed the departure of defender Qobolwakhe Sibande to Egyptian side Petrojet SC ahead of the second round of the season.

Sibande has been linked with a move to Egypt since December 2025. The 25-year-old signed with the Rockets in July 2024 after cutting ties with Stellenbosch FC, where he spent two seasons in the SA elite league.

The talented left-back joined Stellies as a development player, signing with the reserve team before making his professional debut for the senior team against Sekhukhune United in January 2023.

Sibande made 42 appearances while at the Cape Winelands-based side but was part of the squad that clinched the Carling Knockout Cup title in the 2023/24 season.

This season, Sibande has managed to feature in 11 matches across all competitions for the Adnan Beganovic-coached team.

When rumours of Sibande heading to Egypt resurfaced, the Galaxy coach stated that they were unaware of the player’s imminent transfer to the North African country.

“Well, that player Sibande still has a contract with us. We didn’t allow him to go to any club, and I don’t know what is happening right now with him,” said Beganovic. “The club doesn’t agree with anything regarding that [the rumoured move to Egypt]. I think the club needs to decide what to do with him.

“What I know is that he still has a contract with the club. He needs to stay with us and be part of the club. But for the future, I don’t know what will happen with him.”
