Kaizer Chiefs defender loaned out to Botswana side Mochudi

Botswana Premier League side Mochudi Centre Chiefs have signed defender Bobo Sima on loan from Kaizer Chiefs. The 20-year-old is the latest South African player to opt to ply his trade in the neighbouring country.

Former Amakhosi attacker Stanton Fredericks is the president of Centre Chiefs.

Sima heads to Botswana from Amakhosiโ€™s reserve side but spent last season on loan at Betway Premiership outfit TS Galaxy. He, however, struggled for regular game time at the Rockets before returning to the Soweto giants.

His quest to play top-flight league football has led to another loan stint, but this time in a foreign land.ย

โ€œSouth African defender Bobo Sima joins the club on loan from Kaizer Chiefs,โ€ Centre Chiefs announced in a statement.

โ€œThe highly rated 20-year-old brings youthful energy, discipline and strong defensive potential as he looks to continue his development and contribute to the teamโ€™s success.โ€

Sima joins a growing list of South African youngsters who are turning to the BPL for top-flight league opportunities. At Centre Chiefs, he links up with winger Tefo Mofokeng who is on loan from Orlando Pirates.ย

Mofokeng has established himself into a key Centre Chiefs player as he bids to attract the attention of Buccaneers coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.ย

At Black Lions, Amakhosi loanee defender Xolani Cossa has turned himself into a reliable defender. The left-footed centre-back was signed by Owen da Gama who has since left the club.

Not only are players flocking to Botswana, but coaches as well. Morena Ramoreboli is the current Botswana national team coach and led the Zebras to 2025 AFCON qualification, where their campaign in Morocco ended at the group stage.

He landed that job against the backdrop of guiding Jwaneng Galaxy to the CAF Champions League group phase two seasons ago. Chiefs legend Reneilwe Letsholonyane is at Matebele FC.
