Siwelele announce Magidigidi’s Belgium transfer to Beerschot

Betway Premiership side Siwelele FC have confirmed striker Siviwe Mgidigidi’s move to Belgian First Division outfit K Beerschot VA.

The Amajita star has sealed the transfer a few days after Siwelele had announced they were in advanced talks with Beershot over the player. The forward leaves Siwelele after three seasons playing PSL football following his graduation from SuperSport United’s DStv Diski Challenge side during the 2023/24 season.

An Amajita key player, Magidigidi was at the 2025 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. The move to Belgium amid a decent season in which he had scored four goals and provided an assist for Siwelele in the PSL.

He joins Beerschot who are bidding for promotion to the Belgian top-flight league. The Purpole White Army is third on the First Division table with 15 points fewer than leaders SK Beveren who have Cape Town-born Kurt Abrahams in their books. Beerschot have nine points less than second-placed KV Kortrijk who are home to Cassius Mailula.

The 20-year-old Magidigidi becomes the latest South African youngster to secure a move overseas in recent years. He joins a list that includes Shandre Campbell, Tylon Smith, Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Ime Okon and Puso Dithejane.

“Siwelele Football Club is pleased to confirm the transfer of our exciting young forward Siviwe Magididigi to Belgian First Division B side K. Beerschot V.A. following the successful conclusion of negotiations between the two clubs,” Siwelele announced.

“We are delighted to see Magididigi take the next step in his journey. Few players earn the chance to move to Europe at 20 years old, and we have every confidence that he will seize this opportunity and continue to develop his already impressive talent. 

“He departs with our appreciation and respect. With this deal finalised, preparations for the second half of our campaign are already underway.
