FARPost can exclusively reveal that Zimbabwe Warriors defender Emmanuel Jalai is on the verge of joining Betway Premiership newcomers Durban City. The Dynamos captain is currently in South Africa to finalise a two-year contract.
The imminent move marks a significant milestone in Jalai’s career following several standout seasons in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League. While sources close to the 26-year-old defender remained tight-lipped, they did confirm his arrival in the country.
“Yes, Emmanuel is in South Africa. He arrived on Friday,” a source told FARPost, though they declined to comment further on the specific details of the City deal.
The Zimbabwe international is currently a free agent after his contract with Dynamos expired on December 31. The pint-sized right-back departs Dynamos as a decorated figure, recently scooping the second runner-up award for the PSL Soccer Star of the Year and being voted the Fans’ Favourite.

INTEREST IN EMMANUEL JALAI FROM OTHER CLUBS
Following his participation at the AFCON, Jalai was a man in demand with cash-rich Scottland FC chasing his signature. Harare giants Dynamos FC were also desperate to retain their longest-serving player.
Another Betway Premiership side, Chippa United, reportedly also tracked the defender. However, newly appointed City coach Themba Badela will be excited to work with the highly rated defender who has captained Zimbabwe’s biggest club for several years.
Jalai started Zimbabwe’s opening two AFCON matches against Egypt and Angola. His strength lies in his ability to tirelessly roam up and down the right channel, thanks to his high energy.
He is technically proficient, quick to react, and comfortable cutting inside from the right during attacks. Jalai will be expected to provide stability and leadership at the back for Badela’s youthful side.
