Former Orlando Pirates coach Mandla Qhogi’s Eswatini side, Nsingizini Hotspurs, have confirmed the departures of three high-profile stars to three different countries during the current January transfer window.
The development underlines the growing reputation of Qhogi, whose transition from the youth structures of Pirates to the Eswatini top-flight has turned the defending MTN Premier League champions into a flourishing hub for regional scouting.
The most high-profile departure sees the versatile Eswatini international defender, Kwakhe ‘Stopper’ Thwala, move to Zimbabwean giants Scottland FC. Thwala, who has been a pillar of the Hotspurs’ defence, was spotted at King Mswati III International Airport earlier this week.
He joins a Scottland FC side that has been dubbed the ‘Mamelodi Sundowns of Zimbabwe’ due to their aggressive investment and recent league title success. The Harare side is currently at the Royal Marang in North West, holding its pre-season camp ahead of the 2025 season, which kicks off in March.

Joining the exodus to Zimbabwe is prolific forward Sambulo ‘Masoso’ Simelane. The striker has officially joined Zimbabwean top-flight newcomers Hardrock FC, based in Kwekwe.
Simelane’s clinical finishing was instrumental in Insingizi Yezulu’s recent title defence and CAF Champions League campaign.
JOEL MADONDO JOINS RICHARDS BAY FC
Rounding off the trio of exports is Ugandan international striker Joel ‘Ginger’ Madondo, who has completed a move to Betway Premiership side Richards Bay FC, as previously reported by FARPost. The 27-year-old, formerly of Wydad Casablanca, joined Nsingizini only six months ago.
However, his explosive performances in Eswatini quickly caught the eye of the Natal Rich Boys, who are looking to climb the table in the second half of the season.
The moves represent a victory for Mandla Qhogi’s philosophy. Having previously coached the Bucs Reserve team and Sekhukhune United’s development side, Qhogi has brought a player-first developmental culture to Nsingizini.
