Motsepe Foundation Championship side Midlands Wanderers FC have announced their signings for the January transfer window, with two Orlando Pirates youngsters headlining the recruits.

The KZN-based side has announced the arrival of two Pirates midfielders, Sonwabo Khumalo and Lungelo Dondolo, while also snapping up former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Keabetswe Ramotsei on a free transfer.

Other players that have signed for Wanderers include Thulani Mini, Sisanda Mbhele, Knowledge Myeni, and Mbulelo Nombengula as they look to make a strong finish to the second round of the season.

The two Pirates midfielders, Khumalo and Dondolo, are joining Midlands Wanderers from the Pirates feeder team in the ABC Motsepe League. Meanwhile, Ramotsei is arriving on a free transfer after his short stint with Chippa United.

The former Sundowns DStv Diski Challenge star signed with Chippa at the start of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, but his contract was terminated after a few months into the new season.

With Midlands beefing up their squad with talented players in the current window, they will be aiming to establish themselves as one of the competitive sides in the NFD.

‘Abafana Bebatha’ are new in the Championship after gaining promotion to the second tier through the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs.

Midlands Wanderers have had a challenging start to life in the Motsepe Foundation after claiming only three wins, three draws, and eight defeats in 14 matches played in the first round.

They are currently sitting 14th on the log standings with 12 points, and they will be looking to overturn their fortunes to climb up the table and survive automatic relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.
