Makaab explains Kobamelo Kodisang’s move to Stellenbosch

Kobamelo Kodisang with Mamelodi Sundowns

Football agent Mike Makaab has explained the thinking behind securing a loan move for Mamelodi Sundowns winger Kobamelo Kodisang to Stellenbosch FC for the remainder of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.

Kodisang recently returned to South Africa after his loan spell with AVS Futebol SAD in Portugal ended abruptly. The talented attacker joined AVS Futebol from Sundowns in July 2025, after struggling for game time in the colours of the reigning league champions.

In his six months with the Portuguese top-flight side, Kodisang turned out on five occasions across all competitions and scored one goal, having suffered an injury in his early days at AVS Futebol.

Before the loan move to Portugal, Kodisang struggled to break into the Sundowns starting line-up, prompting the club to send him out on loan to search for regular playing minutes elsewhere.

Kodisang initially joined Sundowns at the start of the previous season and went on to register 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

Upon his abrupt exit from AVS Futebol, Kodisang completed another loan move to Stellenbosch for the remainder of the campaign and he has been unveiled alongside Tshegofatso Mabasa and Mosa Lebusa on Tuesday. The pacey winger has reunited with Gavin Hunt at Stellies after the pair worked together at the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.

The Bafana Bafana international will be looking to hit the ground running at the Winelands-based side and regain his best form to have a chance of returning to his parent club at the end of the current season.

Speaking in an interview with FARPost, his agent Mike Makaab has revealed that the aim of the move to Stellenbosch is to  help Kodisang regain his best form under a familiar coach.

“The move for Kodisang to join is very crucial. We’re hoping that this is the move that is going to help him regain his best form under the coach who knows him very well, as they worked together at Bidvest Wits,” Makaab said.

“I also want to thank Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch for the professionalism they’ve shown in handling this business. We are confident that all parties involved will benefit from this deal.”
