In the latest shake-up of the January transfer window, FARPost has established that Magesi FC have secured the signature of former AmaZulu FC attacking midfielder, Sbusiso Magaqa.
The move marks a long-awaited return to professional football for the 27-year-old. Magaqa has been a free agent since early 2025, following the high-profile expulsion of Royal AM from the PSL. The “Thwihli Thwahla” were dissolved after the South African Revenue Service [SARS] seized the club amid tax evasion charges against owner Shauwn Mkhize.
This move marks a significant career milestone for the AmaZulu youth graduate; for the first time in his nine-year professional career, Magaqa will be based outside of KwaZulu-Natal.
Since earning promotion to the Usuthu first team in 2017, Magaqa spent several seasons on loan with Uthongathi FC and Royal AM before making a permanent move to the latter in January 2023. During his final full season at Royal AM, he struggled for consistency, failing to register a goal contribution in 17 appearances.
Sources indicate that Magaqa earned his contract with the Limpopo-based outfit following a successful trial period.
INSIDE MAGAQAโS SHORT-TERM DEAL AT MAGESI FC

As per close intel, FARPost can confirm that Magesi have secured the skilful attacker on a one-year contract with an option to extend.
The former Usuthu prospect forms part of Magesi’s strong efforts to bolster their attacking unit. Currently at position 15, the club aims to climb out of the Betway Premiership relegation zone.
On Monday, the club announced the arrival of Orlando Pirates’ Under-23 striker, Sifiso Luthuli. The attacking pair prepare to join forces and strengthen the clubโs suboptimal attacking force.
As an attacking midfielder, Magaqa is tasked with igniting Magesi’s creative spark upfront.ย This remains an area where the club has struggled with since the season began. Evidently, Magesi have only managed to score 10 goals in 14 games so far in their league campaign.
Dikwena Tsa Meetse have also tightened theyโre defence through the acquisition of another Pirates prospect on a loan deal. 23-year-old right-back Siyabonga Ndlozi joins the club as he has struggled to secure gametime since his first team promotion at the Buccaneers in August 2024.
