Former Orlando Pirates and Maritzburg United star Fortune Makaringe has landed a new club in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with Leicesterford City FC.
Makaringe has been a free agent since parting ways with Cape Town City FC at the end of the 2024/25 season after spending just one season with the club.
The talented midfielder joined CT City in July 2024 on a free transfer after parting ways with Betway Premiership giants Orlando Pirates. Makaringe spent five seasons with the Buccaneers after signing from Maritzburg in 2019.
During his time with Pirates, he amassed over 100 appearances across all competitions, registering 10 goals and nine assists. After his stint with the Sea Robbers came to an end, โMaestroโ moved to a new adventure at Mother City.
At Cape Town City, Makaringe didn’t have a good spell as the club suffered relegation to the Motsepe Foundation at the end of last season. The 32-year-old featured in 20 appearances in all competitions without registering any goals.
MAKARINGE BRINGS EXPERIENCE TO LEICESTERFORD CITY

With the second round of the season in the PSL in full swing, Makaringe has joined Leicesterford after training with the team for the past few weeks.
Makaringe is expected to play a major role at Leicesterford as they look to maintain their status in the second division after buying JDR Stars’ status in July 2025.
The Pretoria-based side is currently sitting 13th on the log standings with 18 points in 14 matches after winning five league matches, drawing three, and losing six.
Makaringe could form a midfield partnership with former Kaizer Chiefs star Phuthutshedzo Nange, who is the captain of the club. The duo will be key in guiding the youngsters at Leicesterford.
