Ex-Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane secures new coaching gig

Former The Bees FC coach Humphrey Mlwane

SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Tzaneen United have beefed up their technical team with the appointment of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Humphrey Mlwane.

The move comes after Mlwane parted ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit The Bees FC in November last year.

Despite leading The Bees to significant success, the club and coach reached a mutual agreement to separate following a string of inconsistent results in the South African second tier.

Mlwane was instrumental in The Bees’ meteoric rise. Last term, he guided the club to the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League title, successfully navigating the national playoffs to secure the clubโ€™s professional status.

The Bees are currently competing in their debut Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign after finishing as runners-up in the national playoffs held in Gauteng in July last year.

However, Mlwaneโ€™s tenure in the professional ranks was unexpectedly brief, ending just months after he led the Mpumalanga side to the promised land.

HUMPHREY MLWANE TO WORK HAND TO HAND WITH SIYABONGA BHEMBE

At Tzaneen United, Mlwane is set to work hand-in-hand with Siyabonga Bhembe for the remainder of the season. The duo is tasked with stabilising the team and navigating a competitive promotion race.

While Mlwaneโ€™s tenure began on a difficult noteโ€”suffering a 3-1 defeat to Vondwe XI Bullets over the weekendโ€”the club remains optimistic.

Despite the recent setback, the Limpopo-based side is firmly in the title hunt within Stream A. Tzaneen United currently occupies third place in their stream, sitting on 13 points after seven matches.

The clubโ€™s management is banking on Mlwaneโ€™s extensive experience and helping them bridge the gap to the summit.

With half of the season remaining, the experienced head of the former Amakhosi man might be exactly what the Limpopo club needs to secure their own spot in the professional ranks.
