Skudu Makudubela joins Siwelele FC as they secure triple swoop

Mahlatse 'Skudu' Makudubela when Young Africans welcomed him to Tanzania

Siwelele FC has bolstered its squad with a triple signing, headlined by the arrival of the mercurial Mahlatse ‘Skudu’ Makudubela. The Bloemfontein-based outfit moved decisively to secure Makudubela alongside Thato Letshedi and Maloisane Mokhele.

The most high-profile of the trio is undoubtedly the skilful Makudubela. Following a stint in the Angolan Girabola with Wiliete SC and a history-making run with AS Vita in the DR Congo, the 35-year-old winger returns to South Africa.

Before his stints in Congo and Angola, ‘Skudu’ won the double with Young Africans in Tanzania. They lifted the Tanzania Premier League title and the FA Cup during his stint in Dar es Salaam.

Known for his flair and ability to unlock stubborn defences, Makudubela’s arrival at Siwelele is expected to provide the veteran leadership the club needs. He also boasts continental experience, having played a huge part in Marumo Gallants’ exploits in the CAF Confederation Cup three seasons ago.

SIWELELE FC LOOKING REVITALISED

Joining from Polokwane City, Letshedi brings a robust work ethic to the Siwelele engine room. The 24-year-old midfielder is known for his versatility in both attacking and central midfield roles. He joins them on a free transfer after parting company with City. This season, he featured in five games.

Rounding out the new arrivals is Mokhele recently parted ways with Reneilwe Letsholonyane’s Matebele FC in Botswana. Mokhele departed from the Botswana Premier League club due to unresolved contractual issues.

The former Chippa United and Sekhukhune United star is looking for a career resurgence in the Free State. With Kgaogelo Sekgota already having made an impact since his arrival earlier this month, Siwelele FC is looking like a revitalised force for the second half of the campaign. Sekgota was on target in his debut as the club played a 1-1 draw against Richards Bay.

Siwelele coach Lehlohonolo Seema will have some time to work with his new signings. Placed 10th in the Betway Premiership table, they play their next match in exactly a fortnight against Polokwane City.
