Kaizer Chiefs have loaned out their first team goalkeeper, Bontle Molefe, to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Leicesterford City FC.

Molefe will spend the remainder of the 2025/26 season with the Pretoria-based side after struggling to break into the matchday squad at Chiefs. Leicesterford have been beefing up their squad in the recently closed January transfer window as they look to climb up the league table and save their status.

City is a new club in the second division after purchasing the status of JDR Stars ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Leicesterford has already signed former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana star Fortune Makaringe and brought back Matome Mmolai from TS Galaxy. Meanwhile, Leicesterford have also acquired the services of Chiefs left-back Nkosana Mbuthu, who made his debut for the club last Friday.

With the NFD outfit sitting ninth on the log standings with 21 points after 16 games, they signed Molefe to bolster their goalkeeping department in the second half of the season.

On Friday morning, Amakhosi announced the departure of the goalkeeper who has been an understudy to experienced goalkeepers such as Brandon Peterson, Fiacre Ntwari, Bruce Bvuma, and Itumeleng Khune while he was still with the Glamour Boys.

โ€œLeicesterford City, based in Mpumalanga, compete in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, which is the national first division of South African football, under the PSL banner.

“This loan move forms part of the clubโ€™s broader strategy to ensure that its promising emerging talent gains valuable game time and the experience required to thrive at the highest level of the sport.

โ€œWe are confident that this opportunity will help Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy (KCYDA) product, Bontle, sharpen his skills further and continue his growth as a professional footballer, and we also believe he will use his talent and the experience he has gained over the years to contribute towards helping Leicesterford compete for promotion to the Betway Premiership. We wish him every success on this exciting new chapter of his career.โ€
