Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has delivered a candid assessment of Lebohang Maboe following his impressive performance against Marumo Gallants on Wednesday night.
Maboe was in the starting line-up during Chiefsโ 1-0 victory over Gallants in the Betway Premiership at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium courtesy of a wonderful strike from Glody Lilepo in the second-half.
Amakhosi collected a crucial maximum points to leapfrog rivals Orlando Pirates and moved to second place on the league table with 30 points in 15 matches. They have registered eight wins, six draws, and one defeat.
Chiefs are two points adrift of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have dominated the league championship after winning the title for eight consecutive seasons.

In a match against Marumo Gallants, Maboe produced a man-of-the-match performance after putting in a solid shift in the middle of the park with passing and defensive abilities. The attacking midfielder spent seven seasons with Masandawana, where he won a handful of major trophies, including the African Football League [AFL] in 2023.

The 31-year-old is one of the new faces at Chiefs after signing on a free transfer after leaving Sundowns in the off-season. In his first few months with the Glamour Boys, Maboe featured in seven appearances across all competitions, having arrived at the club with an injury.
Speaking after the victory over Gallants, Kaze praised Maboe’s impact at Chiefs, stating that he’s a player with a โhigh football IQโ. โHeโs a player with a big football IQ, and that’s what we love about him,โ Kaze said.
โHeโs a player that can find solutions, always positions himself very well, and he likes to play forward. We need those kinds of players who have big experience, it’s very helpful for everyone.โ
